Fall in Love with the Alina Nap Dress: A Modern Take on Classic Charm

Fall in Love with the Alina Nap Dress: A Modern Take on Classic Charm

One of my favorite books is Anne of Green Gables (can you really have just one favorite book? I can’t!). I love Anne’s imagination, resilience, and zest for life. I admire her willingness to try new things and learn along the way. It also doesn’t hurt that I share my middle name with her first name.

One of the many endearing parts of the book is Anne’s dream of owning a dress with puffed sleeves. I laugh so hard every time I read the chapter where Matthew—her guardian—finally realizes Anne isn’t dressed like the other girls. He goes through Rachel Lynde to figure out what to do about it, and together they make Anne’s Christmas dream come true with her very first puffed-sleeve dress. It’s hilarious and heartwarming!

The Alina Nap Dress features puffed sleeves that would make Anne proud. I also love the smocked bodice that brings it perfectly up to trend for today. Add some boots and maybe a cozy cardigan if the day is chilly, and you’re ready for all the Fall fun. Let’s take a closer look at her features below.

Sizing and Fit

Thanks to the smocked bodice, the Alina Nap Dress offers more flexibility in sizing than most dresses. I can comfortably wear anything from XXS (two sizes down from my true size) to Medium (one size up). My personal preference is to stay close to my true size or go one size down for the best fit. I avoid sizing up because the neckline can start to get too loose for comfort.

I’m 5’4”, and the dress hits me right at or just below the knee. The elastic at the sleeves is mostly for style—it’s nice and wide, so I haven’t noticed any tightness or discomfort.

The dress comes in sizes XXS–3XL.

Fabric and Feel

The Alina Nap Dress is made from a crinkle knit fabric (97% polyester, 3% spandex). It has just a bit of stretch, and I love the texture—it adds visual interest and a touch of fun to the look. The fabric holds its shape beautifully and feels like a medium to medium-light weight on the body.

Practical Features

The Alina Nap Dress includes these thoughtful design details:

  • Knee-length hem
  • Side seam pockets (can I get a hallelujah!)
  • Square neckline with elastic
  • Smocked front and back bodice
  • Double-lined bubble sleeves with elastic openings

Clothing Care

I’m the kind of person who avoids the dry cleaners, so I need clothes I can care for at home. The Alina Nap Dress should be hand washed in cold water without bleach. Since I don’t wear dresses every day, this is easy to manage.

I usually wash mine in the sink or very carefully on the delicate cycle in my washer (just remember, that’s at your own risk!). The care instructions say you can tumble dry on low—which I happily take advantage of. Do not dry clean.

Following the care instructions helps keep your Alina looking fresh and new much longer.

When to Wear Alina

I would wear Alina…

  • To church
  • On a date
  • For special occasions like graduations or work parties
  • In business casual settings

How to Style Alina

Alina pairs beautifully with:

  • Jewelry
  • A belt
  • Most LuLaRoe cover-ups
  • Boots, heels, tennis shoes, or flats—depending on your vibe for the day
  • A jacket

It’s a great piece for summer, but also perfect for layering. In spring and fall, I love pairing it with a cardigan or jacket and a cute pair of boots.
