What to Know Before Buying the LuLaRoe Iris Top: Fit, Features & Styling Tips

I have a love affair with patterns in my clothing- especially my everyday tops. They are what adds fun and personality to getting dressed for me. My favorites are tops with butterflies, books, stripes, polka dots, or flowers. I might consider dragons if I could find the one right one. 

I love adding a cardigan to give a nice anchor to a fun pattern or just wearing them as is on a good day to lift the mood. It’s like rocking out to my favorites song on repeat, but as a shirt. 

Enter the Iris top- what first drew me to her was that she comes in a lot of fun prints (there are solids as well to give that needed balance in a closet). I can’t wait to share this review and a few of my favorites!

Sizing and Fit

The Iris top is designed to be comfortable and with a little feminine shape instead of dressing up like a box. The fabric has a medium stretch that gives it some room for sizing up or down a little depending on preference. 

For this review I tried on the XXS, XS, and S. I have tried on the M before. My street size is 6/8 or S. I was pleased to find that I could fit into all the sizes that I tried on without it being too difficult. My preference was the XS and S. 

•  XXS very fitted but okay. Not what I would wear on a day when I need something more forgiving
• XS has a nicer fitted feel, closer to what I prefer 
• S was beginning to get more relaxed but that sweat spot before it gets too relaxed and loose. 
• The medium gets to be too loose for my taste. 

The Iris comes in XXS-3XL. 

Fabric and Feel

The Iris top is made with MVS fabric, a blend of 95% polyester and 5% spandex. It has a medium stretch as mentioned before and feels similar to a nice cozy t-shirt. It’s like you get all the benefit of a relaxed t-shirt but with a few features that take it up a notch and give it a better look. 

Practical Features

The Iris top includes these details that make the fit flattering:

• Rounded V-neck 
• Shirttail hem at the bottom that gives it a round detail instead of a straight cut 
• Relaxed sleeves- another reason that you can go up and down with the fit a bit 
• Slightly tapered waist- what gives it shape and makes me like it (my hate of normal t-shirts is another story) 

Clothing Care

I’m the kind of person who avoids the dry cleaners whenever possible—I like clothes that are easy to care for at home.

To keep your Iris tops looking their best, wash them cold on the delicate cycle and hang dry. I usually hang mine on a hanger in the bathroom with a fan on. They’re typically dry and ready to wear by the next morning (or later that same day if I wash them early).

Do not iron (I am pretty sure I have never ironed an everyday shirt anyway) and do not bleach!

Following the care instructions will help your Irish tops stay looking new much longer. The fabric can pill if it isn’t treated properly, so be gentle.

When to Wear Iris

I’d wear my Iris just about anywhere depending on what I pair it with:

• Every day—they’re colorful and comfortable!
• On a date with your husband or partner 
• On a lunch date with friends 
• When teaching or giving a school training
• In business casual settings
• At home for a cozy day in
• At church 

How to Style Iris

Iris top is an incredibly versatile shirt that pairs beautifully with:

• A cardigan, cover-up, or jacket
• Denim for a more everyday look 
• Jax for a relaxed at home feel or even a walk in the park 
• A nice pant like Joey or Kylie to elevate the look or add color if desired  
• A skirt such as the Jennifer or Kayla to elevate even a little further 
• You can dress up or down with your shoes or accessory choices for a little more fun 

Iris is a year-round staple—you can easily adjust the look for each season just by changing your layering pieces and bottoms out to match.
